Play Team Handball is a dedicated organization that focuses on nurturing the athletic potential of young girls and women in the sport of handball. With three age-group teams, namely Futures (U-16), Select (U-20), and Ultimate (20+), we provide a platform for young female athletes to excel. Our teams are committed to practicing and honing their technical, tactical, mental, and physical skills. We firmly believe in talent development and strive to empower these athletes, paving the way for their success in the world of handball. Through our comprehensive training programs, we create an environment that fosters growth and instills a passion for the sport. About the project

Starting point

To begin their journey as a potential athlete, the first step is to fill out a new athlete interest form online. This allows athletes to express their desire to participate and showcase their skills. Additionally, they must register for either the upcoming evaluation session in the Dallas - Fort Worth area or the skill development camp. These opportunities provide a platform for prospective athletes to demonstrate their abilities and potential. By submitting the interest form athletes can take the initial steps towards pursuing their handball Olympic dreams.

Short Term Pathway

All aspiring players have two options to further their handball skills. The first option is to join the Play Team Handball age-group team in the DFW area, where they can receive regular training specifically designed for handball development. The second option is available for players who live outside the DFW Metroplex. They can join a local handball team for regular training and competition. Additionally, they have the opportunity to travel to the DFW area for additional development events. Furthermore, they can participate in virtual training enhancement programming to further enhance their skills. These options provide aspiring players with the necessary resources and opportunities to excel in the sport of handball.

Intermediate & Ultimate Destination

Once an athlete has achieved a certain level of skill and conditioning, she may be offered the chance to join the USATH WNT Training Pool. This opportunity will allow her to participate in all officially scheduled National Team events and competitions. The ultimate goal for the Play Team Handball Futures athletes is to become eligible for National Team selections and potentially be nominated for the Team USA 2028 Olympics. However, the timing of this achievement will vary for each athlete, as it depends solely on their individual pace of development.
