Play Team Handball Mission & Objectives
Our mission is to empower young athletes to reach their maximum athletic potential and foster the values of the Olympics, all while cultivating strong character to become responsible leaders in society. To achieve this, we have outlined four main objectives. Firstly, we are committed to driving positive change within our local Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas community. Secondly, we aim to encourage participation in handball at all levels, with a special focus on promoting female athletes participation in Olympic sport of team handball. Thirdly, we strive to expand our development programs to include coaches and officials of all age groups in communities across Texas and neighboring states. Lastly, our goal is to identify exceptional female athletes and provide them with the necessary support and training to enhance their capabilities for selection to the USATH national and Olympic teams.
Based on my 34 years of experience in handball in the US, all players old as well as new, still face several severe barriers to full meaningful engagement in our sport. At Play Team Handball, we can't solve the challenges that are primary responsibility of the USA Team Handball, the National Governing Body. Instead we decided to narrowly focus on breaking those barriers for young American female High School, Collegiate, and post college athletes, from Dallas-Fort Worth, looking for an opportunity to: (1) become a multi-sport player, (2) transitioning from their main sport to handball, (3) extend their sport careers after completing their collegiate eligibility, (4) returning to competitive play after being cut from their school, community academies.
Play Team Handball wants to build a sustainable long-term athletes development pathway leading them to become eligible for the USATH National team selections and encourages female athletes to contact us for immediate consideration and placement on one of three age-group teams: Futures U16, Select U20, and Ultimate 20+. My revolutionary model hinges on science-based and practice confirmed dedicated practice skill development approach accelerating our players' progress to handball elite level performers much faster than any other US program. However, I realize that finding talented new athletes, recruiting them, convincing them to give handball a chance, "selling" them the Olympic Dream, engaging in regular training regimen, providing ample & suitable competition opportunities, supporting athletes' work-study-life style, will be extremely tough and long quest. It will require finding new innovative, non-linear solutions to persisting decades old issues standing in the way of handball' organic growth.
